⚖ Responsible spending + transparent budgets = no surprises.
Meadowbrook-Strathcona residents deserve a say in exactly how their tax dollars are spent. I will push for open budget transparency, independent spending reviews, and demand that every major expenditure comes with a clear rationale and measurable outcome. Balancing a budget shouldn’t always mean raising property taxes and increasing the cost of living!
🤝 Real consultations for decisions that affect our community.
Too often, "community consultation" means a single public meeting, outside the ward, usually on a school night, and sometimes after decisions have already been made. I will build a district engagement model that reaches residents where they are. This includes door-to-door listening tours, youth and senior advisory panels and a digital engagement strategy.
🎒 Safe streets and strong schools for a district where children thrive.
Every child in our district deserves to walk to school safely, learn in a well-resourced environment, and come home to a neighbourhood where they feel secure. I will make school-zone safety, after-school program funding, and educational investments a top priority at City Hall.
🌳 Meadowbrook-Strathcona’s green spaces are a gift I will protect and preserve.
Our neighbourhood’s parks, community gardens, trails, and green corridors are among our greatest assets. I will fight to protect existing green space from unnecessary corporate development pressures, increase park maintenance standards, expand trail networks, and ensure every resident lives within a short walk of quality outdoor space.
🏠 Everyone deserves affordable housing.
Kingston's housing crisis is real, and Meadowbrook-Strathcona is not immune to these struggles. I support thoughtful, community-led city building that adds to our housing supply without sacrificing neighbourhood character. On council, I will advocate for smart affordable housing, and ensure our by-laws support neighbourhoods that give people more places to live, work, and connect.
🩺 Kingstonians need better access to health care.
As a nurse, I've seen firsthand what happens when people can't get timely access to the care they need. Too many Meadowbrook-Strathcona residents don't have a family doctor or other primary care clinician. Too many are waiting months for mental health support. While healthcare is primarily a provincial responsibility, cities have real, under-utilized tools to improve Canada's healthcare crisis. I'll use every one of them to invest in community health hubs, support nurse/physician recruitment, and improve mental health and harm reduction services.
